| vwtypeiii's Full Review: Canon Elura 40MC Mini DV Camcorder |
Every point that the previous reviewers mentioned are right on. I purchased this back in late October and have had a while to use it.
My only critiques of the previous reviews are as follows:
Camera/Mic Noise; I did hear and notice the camera gear noises when I first bought the camera. But when I play video back now it is non-existent. I think maybe the camera just needed time to be broken-in.
Second, I am not too hot on the ergonomic hold of the camera. If you are not careful your middle finger will block the "sensor" thing in front of the camera.
But other than that, I am quite happy with the camera to date.
The low light recording ability is not very good. But it does in a pinch. And the dig. image stills are only good for sending over the internet etc. I have printed some digital stills and they are no where near even a 2 to 2.5 megapixel digital camera in quality, but of course this camera was not made for that.
All in all I recommend this camera. I got this camera from Costco for apprx. $820 w/ tax. And it came w/ a $100 rebate and; from what I understand, pretty good video editing software, which I have yet to receive (and I sent this out about 2 months ago...time to find out what is going on).
So I imagine you should be able to get a pretty good deal now, since it has been out for a little while.
