This is a great scanner to complete your desktop at home or at work. Its performance is great considering the price and it also looks great. You will be able to scan photo images at very high resolutions fairly quickly. With the USB 2.0 connection you can also transfer the images quickly and easily to your computer.
Design
The design of this scanner is rather unique. The surface gives the scanner a smooth feel with the contrasting colors and rounded shape. The scanner is a little bulky, but not to the point where it cannot be kept on your desk. There is a heavy duty lid that is strong enough to retain some pressure and the lid also covers up the 4 buttons: Copy, Scan, File, and E-mail. These allow the scanner to be easily used by even users with very limited computer comprehension.
Picture Scanning
With this scanner you will get great crisp pictures scanned to your computer. The color in the pictures is mostly clear and vibrant. You shouldn't get very much distortion either. This will make it so that you have the most crisp images possible. To manage your scanned images they have include Adobe Photoshop Album Starter and ArcSoft PhotoStudio 5.5. These will allow you to edit your images to a certain extend and will also help you manage your images.
Text Scanning
The text scanning is the biggest problem with the Canoscan. Your text scans will appear a little blurry and rough. The smaller your font is the worse the problem will be too. This scanner is definitely not made for scanning high quality text.
My recommendation
I recommend this product to you if you need a great color scanner for mostly image scanning. If you need high quality text, then this is not for you. But if you are only going to scan images, you should buy this scanner. The image quality is superior to other scanners of this price range because of the great color and resolution.
