Better late than never. (LOL) I am glad I was of help in your decision process, and I am happy your husband likes the camera. I still love it myself and have resisted any temptation of the new sexy "EOS 5D" which also is professionally priced. ;-)

Late to the party... (Reply to this comment)

But I wanted you to know that this review helped me to decide to buy the 20D and not the Rebel and my husband is very, very happy with it. He just got it the other day and he says it's phenomenal (He's a part time photographer, slightly up from a hobbyist).
This was an incredible review!

Thanks for the feedback and I agree with your statement that "Canon innovates, Nikon perfects." - maybe. I consider both somewhat equal with Canon just pumping out more consumer grade cameras and that plays a role in the company's image of a mass market. (From a perfection point of view, the 1Ds is pretty darn close! And it's a Canon - with no Nikon competition in sight. ;-)
But I think you're right that Nikon is a (much) smaller company than Canon and with greater product to market power. Nikon does good not to engage in a race they would ultimately loose, hence sitting back is a smart move.
I am not sure that 8MPx is the main argument, but having that additional margin certainly makes me feel better about my 20D. (Lens and support limitations typically constrain your pictures more than the difference between 6 and 8 MPx.)
Anyway, thanks for the comment. Enjoyed reading from you -- as always.

Great Review of a Fine Camera! (Reply to this comment)

Too bad Nikon doesn't have anything out to compete with it at the moment. Then again, as I've always said, "Canon innovates, Nikon perfects."
I think one of the reasons Nikon tends to hang back and watch what Canon does is that for all their success as a company, Nikon still is NOT as large a company and their pockets aren't as deep. After all, Canon has a copier company to help subsidize its R&D costs for imaging.
Great job on this review! Readers trying to decide have all the info they'll ever need to help them with their decision making. As a Nikon film SLR shooter, I have to admit that I am somewhat chagrined that they STILL DO NOT have an 8 MP dSLR for this segment of the market.
Well done!
