| rayonline's Full Review: Canon EOS 3000 Kit 35mm Film Camera |
I've had this camera that I bought for my bro in 2000 and now is 2004. I have taken some courses in photography thou I am no pro I have some experience with point and shoots 35mm and APS and Nikon DSLR as well. I know photography theory and know a range of applications thou as I said I am not a pro. I tend to use Av and Tv modes and sometimes manual with EV compensation.
1. The film chamber is hard to insert film. My bro bent one of those 6 metal springs. I then was loading some Pro portrait film Kodak Portra NC ASA 160 and snapped it. The camera is now dead unless someone can tell me a DIY job.
2. NO Depth of Preview, though unlike other brands it has ISO speed manual override and manual mode has full viewfinder metering and wile * button is pressed has centre weighted (the little circle). So call this even.
3. The eyepiece is plastic and rubber. This cracked so its lose. Should be full rubber so its not possible.
4. User friendly is not best. If you are in Av or Tv mode you can dial a value fine. Though if you want to EV compensate you need to press * and roll the dial at the same time. Awkward. Likwise if you in manual the main dial is for shutter but you need to hold the * button and roll to change the aperture.
5. Its kinda strange when Av and Tv modes which is kinda with pro's use, it meters with the circle as well as the rectangle (taken from the manual). Though when you look via the viewfinder there are no markings to show this rectangle. So how do you really use it?? 2nd point, Av and Tv modes needs to press the * button to use the circle alone. Manual mode meters all the viewfinder but when you press * it does the circle. Would not it be easier to standardise all of it?? Why don't just design it so that we can choose full viewfinder, or the funny circle and rectangle (and it has the markings in the VF), or we can choose just to use the circle alone. Then irrrespect what modes we use we know what sensors we are metering with .. than to walzing with cinderella.
