Pros:Captures details accurately, low noise, very good color reproduction
Cons:Expensive
The Bottom Line: Buy this one if you want a sleek, convenient and power-packed camera.

The Canon S70 is probably the sleekest and best camera I've used so far. This streamlined chunk of metal comes in a dark, marine blue with matt finish. The camera is powered on by moving the front flat outwards. This flap has a sexy brushed-metal finish and moving it aside reveals the lens which then smoothly extends itself out. Again, you close it in by sloding the flap inwards.

The S70 continues from a line of 'S' series that have maintained the sleek and compact look. This variant sports a 7.1 Megapixel CCD that records images at 180 DPI. This should easily allow you to take pictures under three levels of compression or RAW. Raw images are completely uncompressed and therefore offer maximum quality. However to open the RAW images you'll have to install the Canon Imaging Software from the CDs included in the package of obtain an appropriate Filter for Canon RAW images if you use photoshop.

Feature wise, you'll find almost everything you'll need out of a camera: high resolution, plenty of manual settings, various focusing options, white balancing presets and metering modes like Matrix, Centre-Weighted, etc. The camera has all different shooting modes too. The S790 also features a macro mode that allows you to get within 4cm of the subject. This camera is powered by a Li-Ion Battery which is quite a relief, as AA batteries get sucked dry before you know it. What's also of importance is that it supports both CF I and II standards.

It was able to accurately reproduce real life colors. The noise too is surprisingly low and I'm talking about shooting at ISO 400. It was able to capture small details much better than any of the other cameras.
