Pros: 4 mega pixles, battery life, clear images.
Cons: slow, and expensive.
The Bottom Line: I would either recommend it for a person who is really into photography, or a regular person who wants a 4 mega-pixle camera that looks ok.

| reviewingman1's Full Review: Canon PowerShot G2 (Black) Digital Camera |
Intro... I bought this at...
I bought this camera at a local electronic retailer for about 700 dollars, but it ended up coming to something closer to 950 with warranties and taxes and stuff. You know how that always happens! The first thing that I liked was that it had was 4 mega-pixles in a presentable form. It wasn't big black and bulky like most 4 megapixles and up are. Although I wouldn't call it sleek looking it had a silverish color, not black, and although its not small, its not HUGE. I also heard that this camera was really slow on startups, just like the G1. So I decided to test it (they have them on stands where you can test it out) and it did take a long time to load. But i asked myself which is more important, quaulity, size, features, or startup times. Obiously you can see that the first three are more important, or at least they are to me. So I decided I would buy it, i could always return if it was that bad. I never had to worry about that though.

What I Liked... Quality, Looks, and more...
The first thing I liked was the 4 megapixles. This means that the pictures have 4 million little dots in them. I also have a 2 mega-pixle camera. When I print the same 8 x 10 picture from each camera, you can see the differance. When a two megapixle camera is on its best setting, if you look closely, very clesely, you can see the little dots (pixles). To see this you have to look very closely. I still think that a 2 megapixle camera is ok for 8 x10s. With a 4 megapixle camera, you can't see any dots, just as you can't see dots on a 4 x 6 print from a 2 mega-pixle camera. The next thing I really liked was the looks. For the first thing it wasn't so big like 4 mega-pixle digital cameras are. The next thing I liked was the LCD screen. This is the first digital camera I have ever had that has a swivel/tilt full color LCD screen. People always seem amazed when the see the LCD screen, probably because its like a tiny high quality TV, especially when you can do videos on it, than play them back. Although the grip on this thing isn't spectacular, it is much better than the little drop ofplastic they put on the G1. This just shows that Canon does respond to complaints.

What I Didn't Like... Nothing too important.
The first thing that I didn't like was that this camera has one of the slowest startup times of any digital camera. It just a slow camera. It also zooms in very slow. I did not find this to be a huge problem considering the rest of the camera is very nice and I couldn't imagine why I would have to do something that I couldn't wait a few seconds for. I think those few seconds are well worth the 4 megapixle quality. The only other thing I could complain about is the price. Although it isn't too bad, there are cheaper ones with less features. The tripod mount is also off center. I don't really care about this because I don't use a tripod, but I heard this could be a problem if you do. My 2 mega-pixle camera also has an offcenter tripod mount.

My Final Epinion A cool camera for the average person
I would either recommend it for a person who is really into photography, or a regular person who wants a 4 mega-pixle camera that looks ok. Just remember that it is a little on the slow side. I think it is more of a people 4 mega-pixle camera, not a pros camera. For pros I would recommend something a little more expensive.
