I buy/sell/trade car audio stuff, and I came across one of these for a good price. It's really loud and takes a TON of RMS, but it doesn't live up to the hype. It's good, but not as good as you'd expect for the price you pay and for the amount of power you put into it.

This is a single voice coil 12" sub, it's HUGE. The speaker is 12" in diameter, it's also about 12" DEEP. The thing must weigh 50 lbs, it's an absolute monster.
The sub runs ideally on about 800-1000 RMS, 500 RMS at a bare minimum, so yo're gonna need a gigantic amp. No amp by pyramid/pyle is gonna come close, even the "2000W" amps that actually only push about 300-400 rms. You need some real heavy duty power by a reputable amp manufacturer like JL, Kicker, Orion, etc..
The sub's impedance is 3 ohms! This means it will suck more juice from your amp, so your 600rms@4ohm amp will really by pushing about 800 rms. If you bridge 2 amp channels, each channel sees 1.5 ohms of load, so make 100% sure your amp is stable at 1.5 ohms if you do this.
The recommended enclosure is big, almost as big as some 2x12 sub boxes I've seen. So you're not going to save a lor of space in your trunk by getting 1 hi-performance sub vs 2 more mainstream subs. Also, you won't get away with buying some cheap particle board sub box, these speakers POUND and they'll rip an ebay-special in half. If you build a good box, you can tune it around 30-32Hz and these subs hit the low low frequencies nicely.
Overall, this is an SPL competition car sub for people where money is no object. Then these are perfect for you. If you're trying to be practical in any way, then a pair of 12w3v2's are a lot cheaper and sound comparable.
