| kyle301's Full Review: Rockford Fosgate FRC4206U Car Tweeter |
First of all, they're not tweeters, even though the title says they are. They are 6" Full Range Speakers.
I bought these speakers because:
1. I wanted something cheap that was better than my factory speakers
2. I wanted some bass. I was planning on just using these speakers for rear fill.
After reading some good reviews about these speakers, I decided to plop them in my Toyota Matrix. Originally, they were being powered by my factory head unit. They really sucked. They sounded worst than my stock speakers they were replacing. I figured it was because I wasn't giving them enough power. I decided to upgrade my head unit, and bought a kenwood kdc-mpv8025. They still suck. If you have the money, save your money for something better.
When I received them in the mail, I knew I was in trouble. The magnets on these suckers are tiny. They are about 1/3 the size of my infinity kappas. They have almost no bass in them. The specifications says they go down to 40 hz, but i doubt it.
But to be honest, I haven't tried powering them with an amp. The Kenwood h/u only goes up to 22watts. I think these are rated from 50-100rms. I might plan on getting a 4 channel amp in the future, but we'll see. Right now I have infinity kappas in the front, powered by a 2 channel kenwood amp. Maybe it's unfair of me to compare the rockford fosgate speakers to the infinitys.
