Pros: A very nice headunit for the price
Cons: Track skip speed
The Bottom Line: If you can live with eternity-long MP3 song gaps, then this is a VERY nice radio for the price.

| idealrides's Full Review: Pioneer DEH-P7400 Car CD/ MP3 Player |
I'm just going to clarify some issues...
1. Somebody said that one of their complaints was that the display inverses every 20 seconds. This is the default setting, and it can be easily disabled. Phwew!
2. If I had known how long it takes to skip between MP3 tracks, I would not have bought this radio. It takes SEVEN SECONDS, both when a track finishes on its own and when you skip manually. This fault is particularly annoying when you are listening to, for example, a group of songs that came from a live show or were mixed by a DJ and were intended to have no gap between the tracks. (Note: this problem only happens with MP3 CDs.)
3. It only displays the first 16 characters of MP3 song data. Every other MP3 player that I know of, which displays track names, automatically scrolls the name if it's too long for the display. However it will scroll the name once if you hold the "display" button for 3 seconds.
4. The line output voltage is somewhat low. The problem with this is that, all things being equal, you have to turn up the gain on your amplifiers which causes more distortion. If you are putting together a high-end system, you would need to get the Premier version of this headunit, which has three 4-volt preouts (instead of two 2-volt outputs) and a much better warranty.
Now some good points:
1. The dark-gray color of the faceplate edge and the trim plate PERFECTLY match the color of my Subaru WRX's center console.
2. The "specs" of this unit (here on epinions) says there is no subwoofer pre-out. Actually, you can change a setting which converts the "rear" pre-out into an adjustable subwoofer pre-out. (You can adjust the sub gain and choose either a 80 or 120hz low-pass filter).
3. This unit has an excellent price/performance ratio.
