Pros: Nice looking graphics. Remote is handy.
Cons: Slow search thru MP3's, short display (read below), unintuitive button layout.
The Bottom Line: Simple: They focused on a bunch of technical fluff and didnt have their basic functionality perfected. Pass on this head unit and save your cash for a different one.

| nikzig's Full Review: Pioneer DEH-P7400 Car CD/ MP3 Player |
This unit is XM compatible and I must say that for XM it is pretty bad. Ill go into that first:
There is a button which switches you thru the station name, artist name, and song title on the display for XM but it isnt long enough; I beleive only 8 characters, its pretty useless if you hear a song and want to remember it for later and you cant read the full name. The scrolling function does not work for XM by the way so forget about that.
Next is the MP3 player, it takes about 8-9 long seconds for each MP3 file to load up. This makes searching thru the songs horribly tedious. Then you can press the button again to display the file name which again is nowhere near long enough as most MP3 files have the format "artist - songname". ANNOYING. Oh they have a scrolling function but you have to press it for every song that you want to scroll and you have to hold it down for 3 seconds, why not have a feature that makes every song scroll??? Ack!
Next is the insane amount of useless options that this head unit has. You talk about fine tuning the audio? It goes way overboard; there are a ton of settings for the treble, bass, highs, lows, mids, blah blah blah plus a built in EQ that can be customized. This may make some car audio enthusiasts happy but I think they went a little extreme. Its too confusing and not user friendly. Setting the time is a chore that you need to read the 20 page instruction booklet to figure out. If you arent a tech guy and just want an easy to use, good sounding, cool looking stereo that has its basic functionality refined rather than a bunch of pretty useless features on a slow, short display unit, pass this one up. I got a deal on this unit and I still dont think it was worth the money.
