I'm here to review this vehicle because it has scared me beyond any levels previously encountered in my life. I am a road warrior by trade and travel a lot. I rented one of these vehicles for the first time yesterday. In handling if you like a Buick feel you will like the Pacifica. Interior is roomy lots of places to put junk.
The I almost died part.... after driving 70 miles I got off the freeway and stopped at a stop sign. When I starte to go the car went and stalled in the middle of two lanes of a four lane state higway. I had two semis lock up there brakes and I saw my life flash before me. Luckily they did not hit me and they just had selective hand signals for me.
At first I thought that perhaps it was my mistake that I had maybe left it on manual shift or something weird, but the vehicle was in drive. About 20 min later it did the exact same thing. I stopped at a stop sign started to go and the vehicle stalled. I drove the car for another 130 miles and it did not occur again. When I returned the vehicle to the rental company it had exactly 9,000. miles. The engine light never came on either time. The vehicle was full of gas so it wasn't a gas problem.
I'm posting this because I am lucky to be here today. I feel that someone's life has been affected by this same problem but there is no proof because the engine light never came on. I will gladly submit a legal statement for anyone who has had an accident because of this problem.
I contacted Chrystler immediately and submitted a statement and vehicle vin. They said they would call the rental company. The rental company didn't have an office near me. They would have to drive out 60 miles to get me so they asked me to drive the vehicle back. Because I had no solid proof of the vehicle malfunction (the engine light did not come on) Budget would not give me a one day rental for free so I had to pay for it.
A big problem that I noticed with this vehicle is that it doesn't like to shift down when you stop after having it on manual/auto shift. Most vehicles drop down to first automatically when you stop, the Pacifica doesn't.
In closing my review, I'd really rather drive a Hummer H3. The only advantage the Pacifica has is seating for 6. I would have said H3 and Cherokee, but after doing some research the Cherokee has the same stall problem but it drives great.
