I have always purchased my vehicles from auctions. I have never had a vehicle for more than two years and must have owned between 10 to 15 vehicles. I thought it was about time to purchase my first new vehicle and went through the entire line of small to midsize type SUV's. I test drove about four different vehicles (Ford, Honda, Mazda and Toyota) until I decided that I wanted a Jeep.
I initially wanted a Wrangler but after driving that and the Liberty, I fell in love with the Liberty. It did not drive at all like I had imagined. It was smooth, comfortable, stylish and had some pretty good pick up and go. I was driving a Limited with Selec-Trac, leather seats, chrome trim panel, heated seats, sunroof, anti-lock brakes, air, it had just about everything.
My test drive was great as the salesman let me go alone. The Jeep had 1 mile on it! It was December so the first thing I did was crank up the heated seats. Very nice. I love the fact you can switch to 4 wheel drive going up to 55 mph. Handling was fantastic, it is hard to describe but I felt like I was in a luxury tank and people had better get out of my way. I just felt secure like I could go anywhere and drive over anything. (and I did later that winter). Maybe you have to drive one to get that feeling or I could have been in a love haze at the time. The rest is history I bought it loving the fact I was the only one to drive my Jeep.
The Jeep has a superb turning radius. Making u-turns is not a problem. It is really a nice and smooth ride on the highway, but, what I couldn't wait for was snow. Let it snow. Finally it did and we got a great snowstorm I think we received around 8 to 10 inches. I live in the DC/Balt area so a snowstorm like that is crippling. I drove around looking for unplowed streets and rolling through them like a kid on Christmas morning.
However, my proudest moment was pulling an AWD Escape out of a small ditch stuck in the snow. I have a rear tow hook and tow straps and never felt prouder of my Jeep. It was the first time I had a use for 4 wheel low. It was a little awkward at first because you have to be coasting 2 to 3 mph to engage 4 low. What also made the task more spectacular was this was done on the stock tires. However fear consumed me when I could not get it out of 4 low. I would suggest anyone go to an empty parking lot and practice this task in case you ever need to use this gear. It could have just been me not wanting to damage anything and being to careful but still takes practice.
So, I just been bragging and haven't done any reviewing. But as you can see I love my Jeep and that is the best review I can give.
