Pros: Fun to drive, off road it is unmatched, amazing amount of custom accessories available
Cons: Stiff ride, no storage space
Over the course of my 34 years I have owned several jeeps, an 84 CJ 7, 94 Wrangler (4 cyl., absolute base model), 95 Wrangler (6 cyl. last of the old wranglers), 97 Wrangler sport, and my current 05 Rubicon. One thing that all of these jeeps had in common was the ability to always put a smile on my face while I was driving them. Jeeps are louder than other utility vehicles, ride a little harsher, have very little storage space, and yes over the years I have had my share of nit picky mechanical problems and rattles. But there is something about a jeep that just draws some people into it. For me it is fond memories of driving to the beach with the top off in the summer, plowing through the snow in the winter, or just driving down a back dirt road to see where it goes. I recently returned from a deployment to Iraq (which is where I saved the money to buy my Rubicon) and spent many a night dreaming of my new jeep I was going to get. Consumer magazines usually bash the jeep and its quirkiness, poor quality ride, lack of creature comforts, etc... but you don't buy it for someone else's opinion! I would recommend getting the dual top option and 6 cyl. the extra power is worth it.
