Truly Amazing!!!

by flareak: Written: Dec 23 '04

Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Fuel economy, space, technology, comfort, cleanest car Earth, functionality, legroom, coolness factor, lower windshield
Cons: Some people don't like it because they have no clue what they are talking about.
The Bottom Line: BEST value for your money! And the newest technology on the market that are only found in luxury cars. Also helps the planet.

I have a Tideland Package 4 (AM) which includes Smart Key, Curtain side airbags, HID lights, and VSC (vehicle stability control). Truly an amazing car, it has far exceeded my expectations. The cloth feels nice, the seats are really comfortable with lots of support. The seats aren't plush and soft which makes it nice for road trips (helps you not to get tired). The rear seats are COMFORTABLE!!! more legroom than a camry, accord, Audi A8 etc. The trunk space is bigger than it looks and with the rear seats folded down, its a cavern. The steering wheel controls are easy to use, the speedometer is in an easy to see place, and the 7" touch screen is nice to have. Many audio controls, climate control, etc. is located in the screen but you can access them using the steering wheel controls, which is very nice. There are so many compartments: from the hidden trunk to the dual glove boxes, you can fit anything inside. Steering and handling is great! I find joy in driving 1 lane curvy roads. The turning curve (14.1 feet) is great in getting in and out of places. The car looks small on the outside but once you get in, its HUGE! One problem: The factory put too much engine oil into the car, 1/4 inch ABOVE the full mark. This causes the mpg to drop significantly, so if any Prius owners are reading this, check the engine oil if you aren't getting above 45. Simply draining some oil would fix the problem. Smart key is so nice to have, I never have to fumble for my keys ever again. I just walk up to it, touch the handle and it unlocks for me! It proved handy when i had my arms full of groceries. Its soo easy to back up with the lower windshield. Backing into a parking space is an ease because you can see the other car very clearly. I love the car!!!! Acceleration is not a problem either, many of my friends say that the Prius accelerates quicker than their car. Must be that 295 lbs of torque coming from the electric motor only that's so nice to have :). If you think the 300+ hp Hummer H2 is powerful, just know that the Prius actually has a faster 0-60 time. And for those who don't know already: YOU DONT HAVE TO PLUG IT IN! it automatically recharges by the kinetic energy of the wheels and also the gasoline engine.
