| vanslam's Full Review: Casio Exilim EX-Z40 Digital Camera |
What can I say the Casio Exilim EX-Z40 is a neat little camera. It takes nice pictures and movies, it has a long battery life and its light and compact. The Casio is not my first digital camera, that honor goes to my Fuji, then I purchased a Canon PowerShot 230.
The Fuji was great but the power zoom lense broke. The 230 was a heck of a camera; but, it was heavier and bulkier than the Casio and it was only 3.2 mega pixel camera. My girlfriend washed the Canon and it failed to work anymore, yea I am still with her, so I needed to buy a new camera. I looked at the Sony DSC-1 but the cost of the camera, memory and extras left me with a case of sticker shock. I looked at Nikons, Canons and Fujis digital cameras; but, they were all a bit to big. Then I found the Casio Z40 and its big screen, 4 mega pixel shot capacity and long battery life, it was true digital love at first sight.
Now the plus features of the camera are really too many to list, but my favorite ones are the large screen, really fast start-up, long battery life, ability to take movies longer than 30 seconds, multiple fixed shooting settings and an included camera re-charger/data transfer base. Now the pictures that the camera produces are of a really nice quality although the screen may appear to be a bit grainy. The camera has a internal memory of 10 MB but that will hold only a couple of shots so I suggest you by a 128MB or better yet a 256MB SD card for image storage.
Now the camera is not perfect, my biggest issue with the camera is when I am switching from picture to movie taking. The Casio requires you to go into the camera menu and select the movie option rather than just flicking a switch. Umm, okay thats it, so the camera is really close to perfect.
