Pros: Amazingly smooth sound, Crisp but not harsh tweeter, tight midbass, great power handling, price
Cons: Not the phase perfect crossover (had to say something!)
The Bottom Line: GO BUY THEM! I can't stress enough how great these really are for the money. I have had several sets and wish I would have just bought these!

| dmbclay's Full Review: Cdt Audio Cambria CA-60 Car Speaker |
I had always heard that CDT made some very nice speakers, but never had a chance to listen to a set. One day while on the internet, I found a classified ad where the guy was selling a pair used as a demo in his store for $90! I thought $90 was a great deal.....and man was I right! I have gone through many brands of speakers, from the Audiobahn aluminum component sets (okay for price, but don't handle the power they claim and harsh tweet), to Memphis studio (nice tweet, but didn't like the dull tone of the set), and lastly, a pair of mid-level eclipse coaxils with external crossovers (these were the best of the previous 3, but lacked the midbass and volume I was looking for). I paid over $90 for each of my last 3 sets, so I figured the CDTs would be O.K., but nothing special...I was wrong! So that's enough background, here's the review
Tweeter:
NICE! It comes with 3 mounting options for any type of install you could think of, I chose flush and mounted them right in the factory tweet location. They are a very nice pair...far more brilliant than any set I've heard before, and they handle power very well (I'm feeding the set from a 220 watt hifonics amp) They are very responsive, from a quick snap to a drawn out cymbal crash, they can play it all. I mean EVERYTHING, I listen to everything from Acoustic rock to country to rap. And the Audiobahns were enough to convince me that I HATE metal tweets. The silk of the CDTs truly is amazing.
Driver:
WOW! Talk about quality.... A real, sturdy basket (did you hear that audiobahn!) painted bright red (really cool) with a strong motor to really move the black cone with the cambria symbol stamped on the dustcap. This speaker is really in a league of it's own in it's price range (you can find a new set for $130). The midbass is punchy and tight, and crosses over with my sub (nakamichi 12) very very nicely. The vocals and general mids are clear, but the most impressive part about the vocals is the fact that these speakers really really give every voice a unique tone. I've never heard any voice sound as beautiful on a set of speakers, that's the first thing I noticed about them. You can hear reverb in a singer's voice, or you can tell that they are horse in some live recordings, it's so much detail it's amazing. This brings us to the high-mids/low-treble
crossover:
I've been using this set for about 8 months now and haven't melted them yet (once again, did you hear that Audiobahn!?). They are not the 60db/octave phase perfect crossovers, but they really do blend the tweeter and the midbass extraordinarily well. Easy to install with gold speaker connections, they get the job done!
