| carmonae's Full Review: Clarion Sirius DXZ-735MP Car CD/ MP3 Player |
I searched my local market (Colombia) and found this unit as the best you can get for that money (~210US here).
Most brands that are around that price are very ugly (fix awful colors, display presentation, finished, etc). I love from this one that it's BLACK. Just the good ones still come in black. Those silver ones are intended for the majority of people, but the black still stands as a classy (for the few with good sence of taste).
The unit does what it's supposed to do very nicely: good sound and plays MP3s.
I've had it for about 2 months and already master it. It's not easy to learn to use it empirically. You have to read the manual thorouhgly and practice with the unit.
My major complain so far is that after just two months the detachable front alreay has dust inside. And believe me I keep my car very clean and when I detach the front I keep it on the provided case, which by the way look kind of cheap for this brand.
The other complain is the remote controller. It seems like a joke. It's so bulky that seems from the 70's. Awfull finished, heavy....the wrost. So it's totally useless inside the car. Buy this unit thinking it doesn't have remote controller.
You can change colors (not blueish ones). Metal BLACK front, good sound quality but with the custom setting.
The display is really alphanumeric .
Has many nice features that work just fine.
The display has many lines and the "Z" which just occupy precious place on it happen to be simply useless. The "Z" and the circle around it gives a cheap touch to the unit let alone they have not a purpose. Some more meaningful information is not shown. E.g the current volume, the stereo indication is hard to notice, etc.
The finishing is not the best. The unit is assembled in China so it's not the nice touch you used to have in the Japasene assembled models.
As mentioned before the unit lets duts in very quickly. This is the wrost flaw for me so far.
The ramdon function is ackward. I think the algorithm is not properly designed. Either my unit is hounted or it loves some specific songs! Besides, when you turn on the engine the ramdon function is lost.
The remote controller is a bad joke. Don't count on this bulky, poorly finished piece of plastic. It uses two AA batteries. What were they thinking of. It's supposed to be the remote of a car stereo not for your VCR or TV!
The web site and the info in the box is disguiding as they say you can have 80 colors but never mention that blue and blueish ones are not allowed.
Well the botton line after all its pros and cons is that this unit is very good for this price segment. The best you can buy. I highly recommend it. But if your budget is not a problem the next step is Alpine, but a one with similar features costs about the double.
