The Coby Personal CD Player is Pretty Cool!
I just received my Coby MP3-CD Player and I think it is a pretty cool gadget! One of the reasons I think it is cool is because I got it for FREE, as a reward for taking online surveys from Harris Poll online. The other reason is that I didnt have a personal CD player, that after trying this one out, I really enjoy the features that it offers. It not only plays CDs with .wav file format, it also plays MP3 files. It can function as a walkman type CD player with headphones, and it can also function as a car CD player, as it hooks up through the cassette player. What follows is a table of information on the Coby Personal CD Player, followed by a review of things I like and dont like about it.

Review of features that I like about he Coby Personal CD Player.
Walkman function. The Coby Personal CD Player is small enough to function as a walkman type player, as it is battery powered and has headphones. It also has an 45-second anti-skip feature, but Im sure that this is useless is you are a jogger! The car stereo cassette conversion kit allows you to play your CDs through your car cassette player. Thats another really cool feature, as I had been contemplating getting a CD player installed in my car, to replace my cassette player. I know that would cost a couple of hundred bucks, since I am not exactly the handy guy with gadgets and electronic circuitry. But, problem solved, my Coby Personal CD player has two important hookups that allow for automobile cassette player conversion: a cigarette lighter powered DC 4.5 Volt adapter with cord that plugs into the back of the CD player, and a line out hookup on the side, with a cord attached to a cassette tape adapter that goes into the cassette player, and plays your CD through your car cassette player, with CD quality sound! This is what is called the car kit, and may have to be purchased separately, although it came with my personal CD player. The 45-second anti-skip function is most useful when using the CD player in the car, going over bumps. I wouldnt recommend using it on a pot-hole ridden road, or a bumpy, gravel country road, however. For my purposes, driving on smooth paved roads gives me no trouble with this.
Other features include the battery powered mode and the head phones for private listening. A cool feature is the ability to take the music with you, for example, if you are listening to a really good tune in the car, and then you arrive at say, school, you usually have to turn it off, and listen to it later. Well, now you can take the music with you, as you can disconnect the personal CD player from the ciggy lighter, and the faux cassette tape with cord, and plug in your head phones and off you go to the five minute jaunt to class, this time, in musical style and grace!
I also love the compact dimensions of this CD player. At only roughly 5 x 5 inches and 1 inch thick, this CD player is petite, weighing in at an astonishing two-thirds of a pound! It is a feather weight device.
The other features I like are the on screen liquid crystal display, which gives CD and song information, including track number and time elapsed. It also has programmable functions such as random play, or fixed play of your favorite songs (great on an MP3 CD, since you can play many more MP3 songs on a 700 MB CD-R than you can CD format .wav type songs). It also has the typical search mode, and previous repeat song buttons.
What I dont like about the Coby personal Cd Player.
The only thing I am not pleased with is the fact that this player doesnt have a belt hookup when you do walk with it, so either you have to carry it, or you have to put it inside your back pack, and hope the cord doesnt get tangled up.
Other than that, I am very pleased with this unit.
All in all, the Coby Mp-CD550 Personal CD player is really a nice little CD player that has multi-function capability, seems pretty durable, and spices up your life. I got mine for free, so I have no complaints at all, but I think that 50 bucks for such a device with all the features it offers isnt too much at all to consider.
