I'm not sure about all the technical information so I will copy that from the front of the computer, then I'll give my opinion as an avid user. 2.08 GHZ ; AMD Athlon XP Processor ; 512 MB PC2700 DDR SDRAM Memory ; 120 GB 7200 RPM Ultra DMA Hard drive ; CD-RW drive 48x24x48x max speed ; CD-ROM Drive 16x max speed.
I was in desperate need of a new updated computer to replace my old windows 98 HP computer. I use this at home for surfing the net as well as doing taxes and running other accounting programs. I went to Circut City and was immediately drawn to the 'Package Sales'... Found a good deal and wouldn't you know...they were SOLD OUT of those...
I didn't have a lot of time for comparison shopping so I decided if I wasn't going for the 'cheapest', I might as well get one with more features. I choose this Compaq because it was on sale as a replacment for a cheaper model that they had sold out of and it had more features than the HP's that were in the same price range.
This Compaq has worked GREAT since the day I hooked it up. Very little initial configuration is needed. The preinstalled software has been easy to use and I haven't had any glitches when installing new software.
It is very compatible with other hardware. The automatic set-up for new hardware had no problems finding my Samsung Monitor or the custom sound system that my husband hooked up.
I use a cable modem and have an additional router hooked through my computer. On occasion, the internet connection 'gets lost', but I beleive that problem is caused by the routers and not the Compaq computer.
This computer is great for the average person who wants top speed and easy to learn and use. It is perfect for surfing the web or doing your personal taxes. It comes pre-installed with Quicken 2004 and also Microsoft Money 2004. For small home office use it includes Microsoft Office, Powerpoint, Excel, Word, as well as digital image software, games, audio and video players, and much more.
This is a great computer for the entire family. I haven't found any problems in the 6 months I have been using my new Compaq.
