Pros: looks good, seems solidly built.
Cons: Very unreliable, Sometimes crashes
The Bottom Line: Stay away from this product until they get the bugs out. It seems to have a lot of potential but they released it too soon.

| tbcass's Full Review: Compaq iPAQ PCD-1 Personal CD Player |
I have been using the original Phillips Expanium since November of 2000 and it has worked flawlessly. The only problem is it an early model MP3 CD player and will not read MP3 ID Tags and is vary short on features over all. I have been wanting to buy the new RIO Volt player but everybody's been sold out. Seeing this new Compaq player and "trusting" the brand name I decided to give it a try. What a mistake. The first CD I put in it wouldn't read. I had to open and close the cover 3 times before it would read it. When you switch from one folder to another it is very slow and sometimes just crashes and won't work at all until you open the cover and close it again. often it pauses briefly during a song. These same CDR's play flawlessly on my Expanium which is about 2 generations and 15 months older. I returned it the same day I bought it.
