We bought this mini-system CD player last Christmas. It was intended as an office system for my desk... but when we unpacked the little guy - sub woofer and all - the sound was too big for my little office. We were not expecting such a full-bodied sound from such a little system.
"mini" definitely does not do the JVC-FS8000 justice.
I guess we should have known from the price (although it seemed cheaper last year) - that we were getting a quality stereo. The FS8000 solid cherry wood speakers give it a nice touch - as do the champagne colored metal and backlit volume knob. It comes with a remote so you can control the volume base etc from across the room.
The large black woofer (that sits below on the floor) creates an incredible depth and richness to the sound.
Here is some more technical data:
Main features: CD/tape/tuner, top-loading motor-driven CD door, 1-bit dual digital-to-analog converter, clock timer with 20-minute backup and snooze, dual-layer fluorescent display
Speakers: Shielded bass reflex design; cherry wood enclosures; edgewise-wound 4-layer voice coil; 8-inch, 60-watt bass reflex subwoofer
Tuner presets: Yes (30 FM, 15 AM)
Audio output: Subwoofer (monaural RCA)
Audio input: Auxiliary (stereo RCA)
Remote control: Yes (full-function, standing)
It also has a clock radio function that allows you to wake up to a deep and resonant rythm - from down the hall and 2 rooms away - makes it a joy to wake up in the morning.
