| daydrmgirl's Full Review: Logitech SoundMan S-4 2 Speakers |
Why I needed these speakers
I have a Acer Travelmate 610 and I wasn't too happy with the built-in speakers. They are ok, but not loud enough for playing music, so I need an external speaker. I wasn't looking for anything fancy, but just a adequate computer speakers.
Why I bought these speakers - size, look and sound
The reason I bought these in the first place is because of the relative small size. I wasn't expecting more than just "hearing the sounds." However, I was happily surprised after I started using them. The sound is crisp and clear, and the surrounding effect is quite good. I especially like the exterior designs. Logitech didn't totally abandon the cube-like design, but adds a little twist to them, giving it a modern look. They don't take up much space either! With the width (of the front of the speaker) less then 3 inches (7.5cm), they'll fit in anywhere! They stand under 7 inches (19cm) and the bases stretch for 4 inches (10cm) to provide a steady stance.
Using the speakers
Headphone jack is located conveniently on the front of the speaker on the right, as well as the volume control knob. To start using it, just plug it into your computer or discman/walkman's sound output jack! All the cords provided are quite long, thus providing flexibility as to where you want to put them. The cords are also color-coded for your convenience.

Are these speakers for you?
Ask yourself:
Do you need high sound/bass quality?
If so, these speakers are probably not for you. These are standard computer speakers and they don't handle rock music well ;)
Are you tired of the cubic dull look of most computer speakers?
Then these speakers are worth considering! They look stylish and doesn't take up too much space on your desk.
Are you buying speakers on a low budget?
These are not a bad choice then. They are cheap, but adequate as computer speakers.
Hope my experience with this product was helpful! Good luck in your shopping!
===UPDATE (Feb 2004)===
My Acer Travelmate 610 was stolen over winter vacation. I now own a Toshiba M30, which has a pair of built-in harman/kardon speakers. These speakers are so good that I put my Logitech speakers back into their boxes! Now let's play some rock n'roll!
