A toaster is a kitchen staple. Everyone knows what it does, and it's hard to mess up. The Cuisinart CPT-180 surpasses this meager standard and looks good doing it.

We use our toaster to make toast! Bread, English muffins, bagels, the works. This is a toaster. It toasts. That's its job. We all know what we use toasters for.
The Cuisinart CPT-180 is made of a handsome brushed metal that looks good tucked away on our countertop. It has four slots which are operated two-by-two by separate carriage-levers. Both sides have knobs to adjust how dark the toast gets, and both sides have buttons for Reheating, Defrosting, and Bagels. There is a removable crumb tray at the bottom of the toaster, and a place to tuck excess electrical cord away underneath the appliance.
The toasting slots can accommodate thick breads and bagels, and they have metal grates on both sides to grab the object being toasted no matter how thin or thick. I've never had anything go into a slot crooked.
We tend to leave the darkness dial pretty low, and the toaster produces nice, golden brown toast every time. The higher levels would probably burn toast pretty easily, so it's best to go easy with them. We've never had occasion to use the Defrost, Reheat or Bagel settings (every time we've put bagels in, the regular setting toasted them just fine), but we're getting into making our own bread and storing it in the freezer, so I'm sure the Defrost feature is going to come in handy!
The best feature, in my book, is the extra lift carriage lever. That is, the carriage can be raised to help the toast stick far enough out of the slot to be safely grabbed. It may well have saved my fingers.
The crumb tray is easily cleaned, and when the toaster is cool, its surface is easily cleaned with a damp sponge or paper towel. Sometimes it's prudent to shake out the whole toaster upside-down over the sink, as the crumb tray doesn't catch every crumb.
I haven't found anything to complain about with this toaster. It has wide slots, it toasts consistently and well, and it looks good on our counter.
The Bottom Line
If you're in the market for a new toaster, and the Cuisinart CPT-180 fits your kitchen decor, it should serve you just fine.
