The Bottom Line: A sturdy and easy to clean skillet. Heats up quickly and evenly.
I had to replace my old electric skillet because everything was starting to stick to it and the heating element was burned onto the teflon. I usually find the best electric skillets online because you definately get what you pay for. All I was ever able to find locally was something for around $40. I wandered into Bed Bath and Beyond one day and there it was, my new skillet.
First of all it is an oval shape instead of round or square which makes it very attractive. Next it has a relatively flat lid instead of a domed lid that takes up lots of room and provides no use. Next I noticed how heafty this skillet was, not the lightweight throw aways that I usually see. Then came my favorite thing. It did not have the break away child protective cord. My previous skillet had that thing and both of us just hated it. We would be cooking something and suddenly look down and notice that it stopped cooking only to check and see the cord had come unplugged away from the base unit because it got bumped slightly. I absolutely hate those child protective cords. If you are a family that has little ones who would knock this skillet off the counter then I guess you might want one with a break away cord, but for my husband and me we hate those things and find them annoying. All those features sold me on this skillet.
As for cooking, it is wonderful. Heats up quickly and cooks everything evenly. Cleanup is a breeze. Melted cheese cleans up with a paper towel and pancakes brown evenly. It as a flat lid that fits great and doesn't take up room over the unit like a domed cover does. The one drawback is the $100.00 price tag but like I've said, in electric skillets I have found that if you pay a decent price for one you should be able to get several years of use out of it, but if you buy a cheapy you will get maybe a year at best out of it before you have to replace it.
