Pros: Great features for the budget minded home user.
Cons: Do not use in a remote office type situation. Firmware make support difficult.
The Bottom Line: Is you are budget minded and don't expect to use the advance features, it is a deal. For reliability or a remote office, look elsewhere.

| edavid3001's Full Review: D-link DI-514 Wireless Router |
After rebate, this thing was $19. So I got what I paid for, plus more.
The router has some nice features. I bought it for the wired hardware router. Later I added WIFI using an Airolink 4800 NIC.
The initial loaded firmware was very buggy, as is the most current. But the current is more stable.
Initial firmware:
I had configured a DHCP lease, after which I could no longer get into the DHCP server. I had to reset the router to default to get past this. It experienced disconnects and slow response times on occasion.
Latest firmware:
The disconnects no longer occur. I game with UT2004, and experience LAG only when I have Sygate or ZoneAlarm enabled (multiple PC's)
The firmware is still very buggy. I had a hell of a time setting up WEP. I would configure settings on the WEP side and get my AIRONET connected, but by setting up WEP the router would change another page where DHCP WAN settings are. It would turn CLONE DHCP mode off, which blocked my internet access. My ISP allows only one specific MAC address. I also configured output to the lowest DBa, but the router keeps resetting it to the highest setting.
I did finally get WEP configured at 128bit, but the WIFI will drop for a second every 40 seconds. The Aironet card recovers, but this is bad for gaming.
Update 4/14/2005. I found out the internal DNS server had quit working 4 days ago. I had to reboot it to get this working again. My main machine has BIND installed and uses root servers, so I didn't notice my security camera quit uploading pictures due to DNS being down. The security camera uses the DNS server on the router.
