Pros: Bass Management +

Cons: Layer Changes are not the smoothest

The Bottom Line: You can't beat the price for the feature set. Look at the Denon 1600

Every review I have read on this player has forgotten to mention that it incorporates bass management. This is very important if you are using the multi-channel analog outputs and have smallish speakers. You can set them to small and everything below 100 hz will be shunted to your subwoofer (according to the Panasonic Help Desk). Compare everything here to the Denon 1600 which costs much more and you will see the same list of features on paper. The sound quality on DVD-Audio is something to experience. The alternative Dolby and DTS tracks included on the DVD-A disks are inferior to the DVD-A tracks in level of clarity and detail when compared to the corresponding DVD-Audio track.
