| piscesbree's Full Review: Sony DVP-C670D Multi-disc DVD Player |
I had a tough time deciding whether or not to wait to buy a DVD player. I thought when they became recordable was the time to buy. But, after viewing a few DVD movies from my home PC, I realized the difference in picture quality and sound instantly.
So I decided it was time to buy, which left me with one question... which one? I had broken it down to 2 choices: The Sony DVP-C670D is the slightly improved version of the C660 model. The price varied between $100, but most of the basic features were identical.
1. 5 disc changer with continuous play while switching disc storage.
2. Scan search with slow forward and reverse.
3. Virtual enhanced surround
4. 2 sets of A/V outputs
5. 5 CD random shuffle
6. Parental control
7. 1 year manufacturer warranty
8. Compact design with remote
All of these features are great in themselves, but the C670D model added a few things that I was told would enhance the picture and sound quality even further. For instance, the Dolby digital and DTS decoding feature keeps the options unlimited. Also, there is a headset jack in the front if I decide to stay up late watching movies, while the rest of the house is sleeping. Lastly, the remote has glow in the dark keys, which is a godsend trying to pause or do anything else when the lights are out.
So I was sold. I could replace my 5 disc CD player with a DVD player that also played CDs and had all the features I loved. Granted $450-500 may seem like a large hole in the wallet, but you'd pay the same amount if you bought each unit separately. Besides, you'll never want to go back to a VCR after experiencing DVD with surround sound. Especially if you're a computer graphic fan like myself. Star Wars will never be the same again.
