Pros: awesome levels, cool graphics, one of the best paddle games
Cons: some levels are too easy
If you like paddle/brick games DX-Ball is just for you. This game got everything you need for spending fun time in front of your PC. DX-Ball 2 is a great game to play with your friends or family. My family and myself got completely hooked on this game and constantly competing for high score.
DX-Ball 2 has cool graphics and very nice sound, which you'll never get bored from, but if you will you can always turn it off. The design of the each level is very unique. The levels have variety of bricks that come in different colors and strengths. Some bricks you can break with one hit, some you can break with as many as three hits, some bricks you can't break at all(unless you are using special power-ups), and some bricks just blow up everything around it after they are hit, and there also are invisible bricks which appear when you hit the area where they are located(the frustrating thing about the invisible bricks is that sometimes you break all the bricks but the level will not end because there is an invisible brick which you can't see and didn't hit yet).
The game also has many power-ups and it's hard for me to remember all of them. Power-ups make your paddle shorter or longer, make your paddle shoot laser beams, make your ball go through bricks without bouncing back, transform your regular ball into a fireball which will explode up to 4 bricks at a time, split your ball into eight balls(very cool feature), make your ball so little you can't even see it or enlarge your ball to make it a Megaball, and also add an extra life to your paddle or take away one life.
What makes this games easy at times is that all the power-ups you acquire during the level stay with you till the end of it. Unlike other paddle games where one power-up disappears when you catch another one, DX-ball game allows you to keep the existing power-ups when you catch a new one. Example: You can shoot laser beams at bricks with uor enlarged paddle and at the same time having eight "fireballs" flying around that can go through bricks without bouncing. This what makes this games easy at times. I personally like more challenge.
DX-Ball 2 is a shareware. You can download a trial version on the internet (www.cnet.com) that contains 24 cool levels. You can purchase the whole game that has 150 levels for only $15 bucks and $3 S&H. You can also download free DX-Ball on the internet(www.cnet.com or www.gamehippo.com).
The first version of DX-Ball is just as cool as it's newer version, with 50 levels and slightly worse graphics and less power-ups(DX-ball 2 added Megaball and Eight Ball split to it's arsenal). You can also try other paddle games such as Arkanoid, Wilkanoind, and Hyperball which i like as well.
Dx-Ball 2 is awesome. You should definitely give this game a try(at least a trial version) since it does not take a lot of time to download it. You'll get addicted to this game.
