Pros: the larger size was desirable for daily use as well as for entertaining
Cons: inconsistent wash quality, left particles of the detergent on the glasses, etc
The Bottom Line: avoid this product because it is being recalled

| jbeanstalk's Full Review: Dacor Epicure IDW30 Built-in Dishwasher |
I bought this product against my usual rule of not purchasing a new product until it has been on the market for at least a year--but the enticement of the size won out. It worked fairly well for almost a year but then the dishes and glasses did not get clean. The dishwasher detergent began collecting on the bottom and the door; the detergent did not completely dissolve in the dispenser, and the dishes often came out grimy. I had the repair man out several times including one time when a new "control kit" was installed. This was Dacor's recognized way of solving the problem since they knew by now that the dishwasher had major problems. When this didn't work I was instructed by the manager of the repair service to call Dacor myself as he had heard that they were recalling the dishwasher.
After a short conversation with customer service they agreed to buy back the dishwasher and asked me to supply the receipts to them by fax. I was informed that the only item that they wouldn't reimburse me for was installation of the new dishwasher--I had retro-fitted my kitchen to accommodate the 30" size--cabinets were removed and smaller ones installed etc. I sent all receipts including what the contractor would now charge me for taking out the 12" cabinets, purchasing and installing a new set of 18" cabinets, purchasing of new custom drawer handles to fit the larger drawers and any miscellaneous costs involved.
When the check came it was almost $1000 short of the costs--what i thought would be a $75 dollar deduction for the actual installation of the new dishwasher ("they don't pay for the installation of the new dishwasher" was the quote from the customer service representative)--actually became--they wouldn't pay for the new cabinets or their installation, or the other costs involved with binging my kitchen back to the way it was prior to the Dacor 30" being installed.
My advice is to insist on having your kitchen back the way it should be!
