Opinion Summary
My turn to do dishes? I'm gettin' a dishwasher.
by amdcomputer | Sep 14 '03
Pros: Low water usage. Spotless dishes. Automatic dispensers. Detergent lasts forever. Quieter than a microwave.
Cons: Multiple loads to do all dishes. I hear they don't last long as other dishwashers

I must say, I'm impressed with this review - and even more with the fact that you kept coming back and updating it, even years later. Nice job - I'm probably going to look for one of these.

Is the dishwasher still with you?

This is quite possibly the best-written review I've ever read on Epinions. You did a fantastic job! Everything I wanted to know was on there and I love that you've updated so we know the thing is still running. Thanks to you, I'm going to buy one of these today!

This was a great review. This really helped me and my husband in deciding to buy the compact dishwasher. I think it's great that you also have an update below your review.

Keep it up!

I never use the flap door, just leave it empty because it's useless. Also, just throw the detergent onto the strainer instead of the indent in the door. There is still enough soap for the second wash to get the dishes clean.

Thanks to your helpful review, I picked the Danby dishwasher. I just did my first load today, and your review was helpful when the manufacturer's instructions were a bit fuzzy. I must say, though, that the dishwasher was heavy for me (a very petite young lady). At 65 pounds, it's nearly 2/3 my own weight. The hardest part for me was just heaving it onto the countertop! Fortunately, the delivery man had brought it into the kitchen so I didn't have to carry it far. But my dry, chapped hands are so happy they don't have to wash dishes anymore!

This little dishwasher is the BEST!!! (Reply to this comment)

Thanks for your comments, guy. Even after reading all the unnecessarily negative reviews about noise and durability, I still chose to buy this little wonder. What a great design and perfect for me, a single guy. I can get by with running it every second day and I have only one large frying pan that won't fit in. Perhaps all the problems noted by the other reviewers have been rectified in the past year or perhaps they're just being unreasonably picky. I have never (in 6 months) experienced any deterioration problems of any kind (no leakage whatsoever, no noise to speak of, (it's quieter than most built- ins) no rusting or chipping and absolutely NO problems getting ANYthing squeaky clean!) For a single person, this is easily the smartest appliance purchase you'll ever make. Oh, there IS one small, very trivial con - the flap-door of the automatic detergent dispenser seems to get caught only partly open, leaving the majority of the detergent remaining after all cycles have completed. This is probably caused by me using the rack area just in front of it for juice glasses. Now, I simply wait to hear the click of the flap-door trying to open, quickly open the door ajar so the flap-door can open all the way, then close the door and get back to what I was doing. I know it's trivial but I just wanted to point out that this is the ONLY thing which doesn't perform optimally on this wonderful machine.
Cheers,

Very quiet. (Reply to this comment)

I was surprised too. I had to bring my ear right up to the unit to hear the motor and even then I could hardly hear anything but water. I think they've insulated this model better than others.

back when I lived my little studio apartment when I was young. Hated dishwashing too. I was lucky to have a dishwasher growing up so I never washed a dish in my life til I got out of college.

Worthwhile investment and great review,

Peggy
