The Bottom Line: This machine is a waste of money because it does not brew hot coffee, it is difficult to pour without coffee spilling and it is not reliable.

I purchased this sleek machine at Starbucks for $149.00. The main unit's top loading for coffee grounds and the water basket are well designed, easy to use. The water level indicator on the side is clear, keeps you informed of the actual brewing process which is quick. The display is attractive and easy to see as well as easy to program. The top of the pot was easier to twist off for cleaning than prior models.
The sleek machine looks good but does not deliver performance for the price... The main problem is the coffee pot with that easy twist off top that I liked... that becomes a nightmare once you twist to the pour indicator alignment. Unless you hold the pot at a 90 degree angle above your cup, you will find an ever enlarging puddle of coffee underneath the pot out of sight and flowing everywhere but into your cup. Additionally, once you have loaded grounds and water into the top of the main unit, you must be very, very careful to ensure the pot is placed firmly under the brew spout in the body cavern or you will find chunky coffee water overflowing the top of the unit. You may think you did it perfectly but it will find a way to back up anyway. Once this overflow happens, the display can get wet and short circuit. Once the display short circuits, the unit will not stay on when it is plugged in after being cleaned up - although no water was allowed to get into the central body that you know of.
The counter life of this unit seems to be 12 months, tops, even if not used frequently.
Save $149.00 and get a Mr. Coffee at Walmart so it does not sting so badly when you throw out the unit.
