jmonkey21's Full Review: Dead or Alive 4 for Xbox 360
Any long time dead or alive fan will obviously have to pick this one up , but I think tons of more people will get into it. It is probably my favorite multiplayer game for 360 at the time.
Graphics - Well the graphics for the characters and background are kind of lacking. It looks like stuff that was possible on the orignal xbox. Although the framerates are extremely high the graphics arent anything jaw-dropping. There are frequent blur effects though that make the graphics seem a little funner. Also , there are still hair collision problems like in the other doa's . It's something that you think would be fixed on the next gen. Some characters also , are just flat out , extremly shiny. Which makes the characters look even faker than ever.
Gameplay - The fighting has some changes in it , with this new installment. You can put longer combos together with more punching while enemies are down or in other places. It seems more fluent the past games and is defintly funner. If you played the old games for a long time , it will take some getting used to though. There are a couple new characters in this one. Although I'm not sure why Tengu , a Spartan from halo , Hayate and Ein are in it. It takes awhile to unlock the last characters since you have to beat the boss countless times , and the boss is pretty hard untill you get used to fighting it.
Sound - The soundtrack is just a couple of rock songs , nothing really good about it , if you like music while you play you can just put your custom soundtrack on.
Replay Value - This game has seemingly endless replay value with the tons of multiplayer gametypes and new fighting styles from people all over the world. It is a definite buy if you like dead or alive or any fighting games. The lobby for a match is actually a 3d level with a screen that shows the current match. You can customize your character that you want in the lobby , by buying stuff from the shop. You get money for the shop by winning matches. You can also buy character costumes in the store.
Tilt - Some 2d fighter fans may not like this game. It's very fluent and easy to get into , you don't have to know all these extremly long combos to fight. You can basicly make up your own combos as you go. If your a dead or alive fan you MUST get this game. If you don't like fighting games then i suggest you rent this game.
