Gee, thanks a lot. I was plannning on going to bed TWO HOURS AGO. I figured I'd read a few SHORT reviews on the x50v that I was planning on buying and ended up spending half the night here.
^_^ But Thanks
Your review was exceptional. Though I wish there were a little more on the WIFI aspect of it. I plan on getting this unit this month and your review backed that decision up. I'm glad you mentioned about the added bulk of the 2200 mah battery, because I was planning on getting on, but decided not to now.
My original idea was to get the x30 that my friend also had. But when I saw that the resolution of this x50v was 4 times as many pixels, the x30 plan was shot to hell.
Thanks again for the excellent review.

Exceptionally helpful review (Reply to this comment)

As a long-time user of these devices and their predecessors, as well as a fairly long-time user of ePinions, I have to say this is one of the most thoroughly written, helpful and accurate reviews I have ever seen for ANY subject. Although the use of the term accurate is not fully appropriate, because so much of any assessment is judgment and epinion, I fully agree with the balanced and helpful perspective provided. I do own the Axim X50v and agree with Zeros comments regarding not only the pros, but the cons as well, most notably the much-criticized battery life limitations. Even as a heavy user, in reality, this limitation has virtually no effect on daily usage; but if one needs stronger battery life, a second battery or the longer-life battery is a simple solution. In addition, one thing that Zero did not mention, is that if you are able to keep the Axim in its cradle or simply connected via the USB port at times during the day, the battery will charge to full capacity fairly quickly (assuming it was at least 25% charged initially; below that will require actual connection to the recharger). Thank you, Zero, for a very helpful and balanced review, along with interesting insight and perspective on the (ongoing) development of these devices.
