| glim's Full Review: Dell Latitude⢠C610 PC Notebook |
The Latitude C610, when used on a daily basis is a good machine. It has a decent sized hard disk, it has one built in drive at a time, its display is large and battery life is decent. The C610 is a full sized Laptop that is best suited for people that do not travel a lot. (travelers should go with the D400 as it is super light but does not have any built-in drives.)
After about 18 months it starts to fail. The keyboard wears in and starts to move the cursor around by itself. This can be remedied by downloading the newest touchpad drivers and disabling the joystick. Which leaves you with two choices, to use the touchpad exclusively, or plug in a mouse.
Hopefully you will still be under warranty and you can get your keyboard replaced. If not, you will be out one of your two control options.
I have had about half a dozen of our C610s keyboards replaced so far, all under warranty (about 50% of our 610s.) Dells tech support is terrific, they understand this is a common fault with this model and quickly handle each case.
