Pros: Very sharp and vivid images and text. No dead pixels
Cons: A little ghosting when scrolling text or playing action games.
The Bottom Line: Get one of these while they're still around. They have supersharp text and graphics, great colors, and are easy to use. Only fault: slight ghosting.

| ebayguy's Full Review: Dell UltraSharp 1800FP 18 inch LCD Monitor |
I have been reading LCD monitor reviews for months and even when a monitor was very highly rated, I would find that I was disappointed when I actually got to see one first-hand. Either it was too dull, or too fuzzy (and yes they were set at the native resolution), or lacking in color. Then one day I happened to see a monitor that blew me away, guess where, at my doctor's office! A quick peak at the back plate indicated that it was a Dell 1800FP. I of course perused the reviews immediately and found that it was getting good reviews as well. But this time my personal look confirmed the reviews!
I did not get as good a deal as others have professed, but I did manage to pick it up for $449, quite a bit less than the standard price($579), because they were closing out this model as they introduced the 1801FP. By the way, the 1801FP does have lots of "features", like height adjustment and rotation capability, but I did not want that, and besides, I had seen the 1800, not the 1801, and was not sure that it was the same basic screen.
Long story short - it is beautiful. Images and text are super sharp, and colors are gorgeous. It is plenty bright, and in fact I had to turn down the brightness quite a bit before I felt comfortable looking at it for extended periods. Mine has no dead pixels, but I don't know how common that is. I drive it with an old nVidia TNT2 analog card, so it does not seem fussy regarding the video card. I suppose a DVI card would be even better, but it's hard for me to imagine how it could be much better!
Only one fault, and that is that when fast scrolling text, or playing fast video games, it takes a split second for the refresh to catch up. It doesn't actually look like ghosting to me, but I guess that's what I'm seeing. Really a minor fault, but definitely there if that's important to you.
Summary: I wouldn't trade it for anything, at least at this point in LCD monitor evolution.
