Pros: You can search for restaurants, stores, etc. and locate them.
Cons: Too many to list.
The Bottom Line: I will wait for Rand McNally to come out with a PPC version of their Travel Card Road Atlas, I suggest you do the same.

| mrmchale's Full Review: DeLorme XMap Street Atlas USA Handheld Edition Ful... |
This is a very poor piece of software. The desktop part of the software is very limited and the Handheld interface isn't any better. I bought this software before I went on a business trip to San Francisco. I downloaded the maps for San Francisco to my PDA (A Dell Axim) which took about 10-15 minutes. Much to my dismay you can only view the maps at the scale you downloaded (no zooming in or out) and there are no street names!! I was under the mistaken impression that this was a map program!?! I will say that it was useful to use the database incorporated into the software. I had no trouble finding restaurants by searching within the program and it located them on the map for me, but with no street names I needed to bring a paper map with me everywhere to figure out where I was going.
I do not find the software even remotely intuitive, and the help menus aren't particularly useful either. As far as I can tell the software is written with the idea of using it with a GPS unit which of course is more $$. Without street names I don't see that adding a GPS unit would be worth the money either. I advise Delorme to stick to paper maps or hire new programmers. I am returning this to the store for store credit, I would rather have $40 worth of pretty much anything else.
