Why I bought my computer
My husband actually bought this computer one night while I was at work. I knew he was off to purchase one, but I left the decision up to him, what kind to buy. The only request I made was that I wanted the bigger, 17" monitor. I had fallen in love with my large screen at a previous job, and often dreaded coming home to peer at my comparatively small screen. He came back with the Compaq computer and ink jet printer.
That same night, he came home, set it up, and we were off and running. The set up and connection was pretty effortless. The speakers connect to the side of the monitor or can detach and be put elsewhere, as compared to other computers which have little boxes which you have to find a place for.
But is this computer for you?
It depends on your needs. It is great for me. I do some work from home, mostly word processing, letters, and some spreadsheets. The software is very helpful and offers several work wizards that help you if needed. I recommend the larger screen just because I prefer it. If you ever try one, you won't want to go back.
This computer may not be for you if you have cable internet or DSL because it will seem slow. However, I have dial-up service and it has plenty of speed compared to my server.
Is it easily upgradeable?
Yes, very. We have upgraded our modem once and recently added a CD burner. Both were easily done by my husband within fifteen minutes.
The printer
The ink jet printer is straight forward with only two buttons to avoid a lot of confusion. The ink cartridges (color and black) are easy to change and the software even tells you when your ink is getting low. Great feature!
I bought this computer, new, two years ago, which now may seem outdated, but still has plenty of perks to make me keep it. Although now, you can get it for a lower price, which is good for you and bad for me. When my husband purchased the computer, it came with a rebate offer, which unbeknownst to me, had an expiration date. So if you ever buy anything with a rebate offer, read the fine print and send it in.
I highly recommend this computer. It has been a great asset to my work and home life. It is easy to operate for even the novice user.
