| ryanworden's Full Review: Dell Dimension 4400 (A-D0314) PC Desktop |
I recently purchased a Dell Dimension 4400 series, despite my utter contempt for their ads. I must say that I am impressed by what I recieved. I was hoping for something that blew away my old pieced together computer, and I got more than I bargained for. I pulled out my black cased computer (I must say, the black is nice), and expected to have a few headaches to follow, so I reached for a ice cold Miller Genuine Draft. I had it assembled and loaded up before the beer was even half gone. I didn't know what to do with myself.
I began to use it, and saw that they have now made computers that other people can figure out. You no longer have to sit there for 2 hours trying to ramble through code to try and set everything up. It was amazing. I am truly convinced. It is so easy to use, I have my feet kicked up. Another great thing about this computer is all of the great features that came with it. It came with a built in DVD player. A 40-24-12 CD burner. A 3.5 floppy drive. A 1.7 GB processor chip. A 17'' monitor, with is a lot easier to see than my old 13'' one. A built in 3D video card with output capibilities. 256KB of Ram. Several USB ports. Nearly 40GB of memory, and so much more. All of this for under $1000.
I also got a free six month subscription to MSN network, and lots of free software that came with the computer. It was loaded with Windows XP, which I am still getting used to. It came with several Norton Products which I had spent a few hundred dollars on in the past. And the thing that really did me in was the sound. The computer came with the standard computer speakers, and an extra, what can only be described as a cabinet speaker. It makes the computer sound as good as my stereo.
The Dell service is great and there for you 24 hours a day, although from what I can tell so far, you are not going to need it, because the computer does everything for you. I feel so useless now, I used to think the computer would die without me, now maybe its I would die without it.
Also, a quick word to those of you whom are also looking at broadband... The typical speed of my broadband cable on it was around 100-150KB\sec, and on this new computer it is close to 1000-1500KB\sec, quite a difference, believe me. I don't even go to the bathroom when waiting on a download anymore.
In summation, I would recommend this computer to anyone who is looking for a good computer at a fair price. It is great for the college student, and the not so computer inclined types. It is an amazing world we live in, and although, I can't stand the commercials, may I say to you... "Dude your getting a Dell."
