| loserchild7's Full Review: Hewlett Packard Pavilion 7965 (P5270AR) PC Desktop |
Me and my sister received this computer for christmas to replace a 7 year old pentium 1 133 Mhz Packard Bell that was basically useless. Me and my dad had this computer out of the box and running in a few minutes. Everything is color coded so anyone can do it effortlessly, even my grandma who has no computer experience what so ever. After it was on we spent about an hour doing setup and transfering files to the new computer from the old one. If you are getting your first computer it should only take about ten minutes to set up.
I was instantly amazed by the speed and power of this computer. It was downloading large files effortlessly and it barely made a sound. When i first installed a game i put it through its first test. It passed with flying colors. The installment was quick and painless and then the computer showed me what it could really do. The graphics were sharp thanks to the Nvidia TNT2 32 MB graphics card. The sound blew me away, its not a movie theater, but pretty darn good. This was defenitely one of those computers everyone admires in Best Buy. This brings me to another point. Probably the reason for admiring it in the store is its 2,000 dollar price tag. But even after my year and a half of owning this computer it is still among the fastest computers. Definitely worth the price even though its not payed off yet.
For all you technical people, here are the specs:
windows XP
pentium 4 1.7 Ghz
80 GB hard drive
512 MB ram
32 MB nvidea TNT2 graphics card
CD-RW drive
DVD rom drive
monitor
in front of the computer tower there is 2 usb ports, a firewire port and a serial. There is also more of these in the back of the tower. I noticed on the end of the keyboard there is 2 usb ports and a firewire! these are in an odd space and took a year to find but they could come in handy if you are out of ports. There is no shortage of usb on my computer, especially since we have a hub making 4 more. This is a must have to plug in the devices you will have.
The only problem i have with this computer is that it is constantly locking up when i use internet explorer. This is a commom problem among HP owners but supposively they fixed the problem.
Included with this computer package is a mouse and keyboard. First the mouse: its lightweight yet solidly built mouse. The cool thing is it doesnt have a ball that needs cleaning all the time, this has a laser and it is very accurate and doesnt even need a mouse pad, but it might keep your desk from scratching if you care (i dont). The keyboard is attractively made but also useful. It is grey with HP's trademark blue clear plastic. Even though it has the plastic stuff it doesnt look cheap, it looks professianal. This is not a kids computer you should be embarresed about. Also on the keyboard are lighted quick jump buttons. These again make it look cool but its still a professianal looking device. Everything you could possibly need is on the keyboard, you almost dont need a mouse.
The computer i have has a different monitor than shown, but the computer is the same, we just purchased the larger one. Instead of 15 inch we have 17. Anyways, the monitor is about as big as you could possibly need. Its also crisp and clear. The flat panel dramatically reduces glare and it hides fingerprints better.
I hope this review has answered any of your questions and ot made new ones. My final thought would be this is an awesome computer either way you look at it. If you can stretch the money go for it and you wont regret it.
