Pros: Build quality, no shutter lag, ease of use, quality of photos, looks, balance, features
Cons: Can't do holographic images. Seriously, I haven't found any faults.
The Bottom Line: It can do it all with grace and ease. You will appear to be a better photographer than you might well be. What more can you ask from a camera?
cdavidm711's Full Review: Canon EOS-10D Digital Camera
Like many Boomers, I cut my photographic teeth decades ago on Pentax and Nikon Single Lens Reflex cameras. The weight, feel and sound of those cameras with interchangeable lens and the quality of the results were wonderful...state of the art for amateur photographers.
When digital cameras arrived on the scene, I jumped in and was wowed by the instant gratification and ease of digital photography. The quality, while not what I was used to, was good enough at 1 to 3 megapixels. So what if you could not adjust for back-lighting, shutter speed or aperture. The technology buzz was great.
However, something was still lacking, but no more. The Canon D10 has brought back all the quality and satisfaction of the old SLR's and married it with the cutting edge technology of digital. It can do everything I want to do and more. There are more controls on this camera than I ever had on a film SLR plus I can view the results instantly or load the Compact Flash card in to a reader connected to a big screen TV, put on some appropriate music and enjoy a slide show of my wife's and my work.
The above is for those wondering if it is time to go digital with a good camera. It is. While more expensive than your typical digital, it is worth it. For those wondering if they could work such a complex camera, don't worry. If you select full automatic mode, it is a fantastic point and shoot camera. If you want something unique, you will be limited more by your imagination than by this camera.
This is not a camera you can put into your pocket. After attaching either my 24mm-135mm Sigma lens or my Canon 75mm-200mm it is a sizable piece of equipment, but not to heavy to carry around for a couple hours. Both are wonderful, quick and quiet lens coupled with an awesome camera body.
If you are looking for a digital camera that takes very good quality photos and has all the bells and whistles, this is it. It is really a lot of fun to use.
