Pros: 4 megapixel - cheap
Cons: poor manufacturing, poor usability
The Bottom Line: Get a higher rated camera for the same price and sacrifice the mp's. The shots you take won't be worth blowing up.

| starfinder's Full Review: Vivitar ViviCam 3825 Digital Camera |
I bought this camera cheap when the 4 MP's were just coming out for a very cheap price, $179, in '03. It never takes the pictures on time, even when the previous picture has already downloaded. For some reason when you pressed the button the camera would take the picture in a window of 1-4 seconds later. This makes for poor picture poses.
It also has a slow transfer speed from the time you snap the pix and when you can take the next pic (when the prior pic has downloaded to the memory card.)
The camera uses a lot of battery power and it gets expensive. It was also poorly made as the knob on top that switches between different settings fell off.
I also had problems from a usability standpoint. The camera always saved the pictures with the same picture file names. To solve this I always had to rename the pics once they were on my hard drive. I was also never able to get the burst function to work.
We just went out and bought a different camera that was an editors choice. I couldn't be happier. I then went to a online shopping price grabbing site and still got a great deal.
The Vivitar was my second digital. My 1st was clunkier but more reliable in the sense that when you pressed the button the picture would take. My new camera is the best I've had (Kodak CX 7530.)
I recommend getting less Megapixel for a more reliable camera if you are trying to choose between 2 equally priced cameras.
