Pros: Long pause time available for live tv; commercial skip feature
Cons: Won't work with digital cable box; worst remote control ever
The Bottom Line: If you have satellite tv or analog cable it should be fine. Beware of it if you have digital cable tv that uses a set-top box.

| sbweber's Full Review: Rio ReplayTV 4504 (40 GB) |
I wish ReplayTV worked. I really do. I've tried both ReplayTV and TIVO, and I like the product styling, features and operation of ReplayTV better than TIVO. However, I took my ReplayTV back and bought TIVO for one reason - ReplayTV's IR Blaster absolutely will not work reliably to change channels on my digital cable set-top box (Scientific Atlanta). After almost a month of trying, I finally gave up. You'll see from reviews posted here and elsewhere on the internet that this is a common problem, and the very nice ReplayTV tech support folks know it, but they have no answer other than to wait for a possible software update in the future.
Other than that I have only two complaints with ReplayTV. First, the remote control is the world's worst design. Too big to hold in one hand, commonly-used buttons small and poorly placed etc. Second, the Replay Zones feature records what it wants, when it wants. While watching delayed live tv, be careful or Replay Zones will switch to something else it thinks you might want to see, without asking first, and you'll never get to see the show you were trying to watch.
These two complaints aren't really a big deal, but the cable box IR Blaster problem was a deal breaker for me.
