I was a very happy TIVO customer, since buying and activating a machine in March, 2002. I know of at least three people who bought TIVO based on my recommendation and I just spoke with a friend at work who is considering buying one.
Then, a few days ago, my TIVO crashed.
I can’t access the programs I had saved, some of which were one-time-only shows, and I can’t use the machine. I don’t expect a piece of electronics to last forever, but I did expect my TIVO to last more than 15 months. After spending approximately $350 for the machine and another $249 for the service, this is an expensive failure for me.
