You mean I don't have to miss my favorite shows!

I work at a local tv station on the evening newscasts and am there from 2pm-11pm. As you can imagine I miss all of the nightly primetime shows due to this. I got the Tivo series 2 DVR as a Christmas gift to myself because of my schedule and I heard many good things from friends who already had one.

I have been very happy with it and like a lot of its features. One of my favorites is the search by wishlist option. I can go in and do a search for an actor or a director or even just a keyword. It will then pull up all of the matching programs and you can choose which ones you want to record. I am a huge George Carlin fan, and I have already recorded four or five of his HBO specials and it's great because you don't have to worry about staying awake or getting up early to watch, because the Tivo does it for you.

It's also nice because you can set up the Season Pass of your favorite shows and the Tivo will record all of the episodes of that show. You can choose first-run episodes only, or you can do first-runs and repeats. I use this option for Entourage and Curb Your Enthusiasm on HBO and Chapelle's Show on Comedy Central. After they are recorded and you watch them you can either delete them right them or you can choose th "Save until I delete" option.

One thing I don't like is that it isn't really 80 hours of recording time. It has four recording quality settings and 80 hours is for the lowest quality. I actually asked the salesperson if there was less time for higher quality like on DVDs and he said no, so I was somewhat unhappy about that. But, I just use the Medium option and it has about 47 hours which is plenty for me.

The only other thing I don't like is that you can not record two shows at the same time. I haven't encountered a problem that often but it would be a nice option to have.

Overall I have been very pleased with it and I look forward to being able to see all my favorite shows from here on out.
