The advertisements of massive rebates finally got to me and I decided to purchase this product. Overall, it's not a bad deal- for the money. Most of the plugs are color-coded, so setup isn't bad. As the title suggests, this model's usefulness depends on what you intend to use the computer for. As a student, it has so far satisfied my needs- save for one area. eMachines did not make a good choice in its selection of modems. The 56K PCTel modem doesn't cut it. And I found that trying to find the update files on eMachines' website wasn't a picnic, either (I won't even mention that after I finally found and installed them, they didn't work). But, all other aspects of the computer- monitor, hard drive, CD-ROM drive, etc. seem to work well.
