I recently purchased an emachines etower with a 466mhz Celeron processor. It is a good machine for the price. I bought it with 6.4gb hard drive, 64mb ram, 40X cd rom, and a 56k modem. It came in a package with an e-view 17" monitor, Lexmark Z11 printer, and an AGFA scanner.
The audio speakers that come with the system are poor. Plan on purchasing a new speaker system if you want quality audio.
The modem is the only other thing I have had a problem with. It just randomly disconnects at will. It will connect every time faithfully, however it disconnects on its own quite a bit. It is a Conexant 56k Soft modem, which is a WIN modem. Rather than deal with emachines, I just purchased a new 56k DualMode modem from ZOOM. Conexant modem came out and went in the trash. Installation was easy, and connections have been reliable ever since. Zoom modem cost was only $39.00.
Tech support from emachines has been alright. They have been quite helpful, although you will pay the toll charges for your call to their tech support in the state of Oregon. Tech support is not a toll free call anymore at emachines.
Overall I believe it is a fairly good product for the price. Providing it continues to operate as it does today. I've only had it a week or so.
