Pros: Beautifully made. Large capacity. Straight-forward software.
Cons: Lasted 6 days then - kaput.
The Bottom Line: I loved it. Built to last forever. Then a two bit part failed and killed it.

| rodh64's Full Review: e.Digital Odyssey 1000 (20 GB) MP3 Player |
I decided to get into mp3 as a means of storing my vinyl and went looking at players. The eDigital Treo 15 seemed to fit the bill and I ordered one. After 6 months and 4 faulty units I armtwisted eDigital in to giving me credit toward the purchase of their top player - the Odyssey 1000. The O1k is beautifully made, bright shiny chrome with a mirrored front complete with holographic logo. 20 gig capacity more than ample. Nice case. Some might say it's a bit too big or heavy but I found it had a nice "heft" to it. Felt very sturdy. Some have reported issues with the software but I found it did what it had to do with no drama at all. The firmware upgrade on my unit might have alleviated many of the problems others had.
Then after 6 days the earphone jack crapped out on one channel. Is it the jack or a circuitry issue? It's gone back and they'll let me know. At this point I'm good and P.O.'d and just plain fed up with faulty products from eDigital. If I could get my money back I'd get a Zen.
