| ggecko's Full Review: e.Digital Treo 15 MP3 Player |
(the good)
The Treo sounds great and is small (no comparison to the ipod 3g). I've never had it skip or lock up. The plastic case seems solid and the unit is light. It also comes with an OK case that seems to protect it well.
(the bad)
I've had the Treo 15 for about a year. First off I had to make directories on the Treo for all my albums and then download the MP3 files one directory at a time, very time consuming. After spending hours upon hours doing this I started having intermittent problems with the LCD. Half the time it just would not come on though it would still play. I found that if I hit the menu button a few times eventually the LCD would appear. I was still within my 30 days but after all the work filling it with MP3's I did not want to return it.
After about 60 days half the sound started to cut in and out. I opened it up and discovered the jack had come loose from the circuit board. I was able to solder this back together.
* A word of caution,The case supplied puts a great deal of pressure on the headphone jack. This can be more or less a problem depending on how you carry your player.
After resoldering the jack, I cut away the area that presses against the jack and this seemed to resolve the problem. The Treo is till working fine after a year of hard use.
(Update)
New firmware much improved the operation of my Treo 15 and resolved the LCD problem.
