mommy2jana's Full Review: Eddie Bauer 22862- Summit Booster Car Seat
I bought this seat last year while on a quest for a new carseat for my then 2.5 yr old daughter. I was under the impression that I would not need another seat for her as this one goes up to 100 lbs. I was so wrong! It is now less than a year later and my 3 year old's shoulders are even with the top harness position (not the topmost as that is for booster mode only). The highest harness position you can use for the 5 pt harness is only 15 inches!!! My 32 lb 3 year old daughter is definitely NOT ready to use this as a belt positioning booster! I want to keep her harnessed for as long as possible.
I am now on the market for a new seat. This time I think I will get a Britax Regent. It will keep her harnessed until 80 lbs and the top harness slots on the regent are at 20 or 21 inches - that is another 10-12 inches of overall growth. If only had not wasted $120 on this seat - twice, as we have two of them.
If you think this seat is right for you and your family, it is not a bad carseat. I had no problems with twisting straps, the seat installed very easily and rock solid using seatbelt or LATCH, my daughter loved the cupholder, the armrests go up and down which makes for easy in and out, the fabric doesn't show stains very well. It is a pain to disassemble the whole seat to get the cover off for cleaning.
Think twice when you're out looking at carseats - children are our most precious cargo - it's our jobs as parents to protect them , keep them harnessed as long as possible!
