Pros: The seat allows a child to sit up higher than most car seats would.
Cons: The base is a little wider than I would like.
The Bottom Line: If you have a taller child, I would highly recommend this seat as soon as your child can be faced forward, and save time and money in the end.
angadrian's Full Review: Eddie Bauer 22862- Summit Booster Car Seat
When our daughter outgrew her infant carrier by two months, I didn't think about her out-growing her convertible car seat as soon as she did. She was two and a half and according to car seat safety guidelines, she was too tall for the straps of her forward facing car seat. My husband and I took her to Babies R Us in search of a car seat that would fit her, have room to adjust the straps to a higher level, and would convert to a booster seat. We also didn't want to break the bank purchasing one. That's when we found the Eddie Bauer Summit Booster Car Seat! Our daughter loved the room she had, and it sat her up higher than her previous seat did, so she could see out the window better. I absolutely loved the fact that to adjust the straps I just had to move the bar in the back, and not undo all the straps. Although we don't use it too often, I also liked how it could recline slightly, so on longer trips she could sleep more comfortably. Two weeks after we purchased this seat, I was hit from the side by another driver. Although it wasn't a high impact crash, (thank goodness) my daughter remained safe in her seat, and suffered no injuries from the incident. When the insurance gave us the go-ahead to purchase a new car seat, I didn't hesitate for a moment in purchasing another Eddie Bauer Summit Booster Seat. Now, it is two and a half years later, and our son is making use of the seat. He also is very tall for his age, and I am relieved to know that he will be able to use this seat for quite a while longer. The only downfall I see with the way the seat is made, has to do with the base. It's not an issue at all if you're using it as a car seat, but when it is used as a booster seat, the base is a little too wide for some models of vehicles. We have a Pontiac Montana, and the seats seem to be a little narrow. When we had to buckle our daughter in with the regular seat belt, it proved to be a little frustrating at times. I plan on using this seat until it hits the expiration date. I have a lot of friends with kids, and it will be nice to have an extra seat that can be used as a car seat or a booster seat.
